This sculpture was originally designed to express harmony—a blend of masculine and feminine nature, inspired by yin and yang. Work began in September 2023, but with the outbreak of war, I was unable to continue. Months later, when I returned to the studio, the clay had dried, and my attempts at carving caused pieces of engobe to fall away, like plaster from a house damaged by gunfire.

The result is not a harmonious “home,” but instead a monument to a home that could not protect its children—a memorial in their memory. The process underscores how creative work is shaped by emotional and social realities, and how intentions shift with changing circumstances. This sculpture became a symbol of how reality impacts art, and how adversity can inspire deeply meaningful creation.
